Screnn displacement

Hello guys!

All was working fine when I decided to change my X resolution.
It was 800x600 and I changed it to 1024x7?? (forgot).
All ok, BUT when I reboot my system, the text mode (console) comes
with a screen displaced left of the monitor, so I have to fix the dislocation through the monitor buttons.

How to re-sync the screen position between console and X?

How to boot directly to x ? I mean, X logon?

I'm slack 9.1, using KDE 3.0, video RIVA TNT2 32 mb.

Thanks!

How bad does the screen shift? This happens to the server i set up for my school, and it only shifts about half an inch or so...not too much of a problem, so ive done nothing about it.

Even half a inch is to much for me!
I have both Linux and Win98 running in my system.
If the win itself fits to the console screen position,
why the Linux canīt do?
