I am running Fedora, ran the vga out of my laptop into my monitor, and it is scrambled - it does match the resolution though...suggestions?

A few more details on your problem would be helpful, like:
- what video hardware do you have in your laptop?
- for example if it's Nvidia, there is a configuration tool nvidia-settings (if you use nvidia's closed source driver), what's the settings?
- what model is the monitor which doesn't work?
- have you tried to use a linux Live-CD like the ones of Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Knoppix, etc... ?

Unplug and replug your monitor cable - this would sometimes work for me, and it won't mess up anything if it doesn't work.

Putting this question on hold (not resolved though)

I have come up with some new issues with Fedora that I'd rather resolve first. I am having so much fun with my three-year-old computer being like new that I almost don't care if I can't run it out into a bigger monitor.
