Scroll wheel not working properly hops to the right

Hi,
I have FC4 and Suse 9.3.
have a PS/2 Logitech TrackMan Marble+ mouse that works ok except for the scroll wheel.
the wheel acts like a button too and that works fine along with the left and right buttons.
The thing is that when I scroll up or down the mouse pointer ¨hops¨ to the right of the screen instead of scrolling

This happens on both OSs but not on the Win2k That resides along side the FC4.

I checked xorg.conf and got:
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"

I have tried to change the protocol to explorerPS/2 and the device to /dev/mouse1 (since /dev/mouse doesn´t exist

I tried to add:
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

with out really knowing what that means but - thats what other have suggested in the forums so...
I did a Ctrl+Alt+BkSpace on each try or a compleate boot - but nothing seems to help.

Then I had an idea - I booted with Knoppix 3.4 and the mouse worked fine.
The options in the /etc/X11/XF86Config are:
Section "Pointer"
Protocol "PS/2"
Device "/dev/mouse"
Emulate3Buttons
Emulate3Timeout 70
EndSection

but I couldn´t actually do something with them

your turn...

Well I did try - and heck I now know a lot more about the mouse configuration than I ever did - but noting seems to help.

One more thing I did try - I got Knoppix 3.9 and the damn thing reproduces there too.
So I guess its has to do with something that changed between XFree86 and XOrg.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - I don´t know what to do....
