Sblive or via-82xx ?

Hi all, i have an old sbLive value, the first revision (from 1998). Im currently using the in-board via-82xx mobo embeded sound card.

I wonder, wich is better between the two, for sound quality, driver installation, performance (in game) ?

;-)

I had a sblive and now I own a abit mobo with via82xx onboard. To me, the via sounds better, although for a tiny difference. Both are good cards, and well supported.

SBLive with no doubt at all. It has onboard hardware mixing and is probably the best supported sound card under Linux.

If you want to anything like use Team Speak or have multiple sound apps without an esd/arts load you need that SBLive!

Run it under OSS for best effect www.opensound.com

I too use a SBlive value card on my Slack 9.1 and LFS boxes.........but I use the emu10k1 driver from sourceforge.........

http://sourceforge.net/projects/emu10k1/

the emu-tools installs a script that needs to be edited .....but it sounds/works way better than ALSA!!
