I have a Samsung ML-1740 laser printer that is about 4 years old and has printed less than 10 reams of paper in it entire life. It is now smudging the paper and occasionally feeding more than one sheet which is a sign of wear according to what I have read on the net. I have tried to vacuum the printer and clean the roller with isopropyl alcohol but I cannot remove whatever is causing the smudge.
My question: is it time to replace the printer? Or should I get it cleaned by a professional?
I agree and from experience I had a printer cleaned and repaired for the same problems. It worked for about two months and then started feeding two to four sheets of paper at a time again. I bought another and upgraded and have been happy. I call that a learning experience.
