Question safe to run pc after CMOS saves date and time but resets bios settings on chassis intrusion reboot


Hey guys,

I have the common chassis intrusion error and to boot into Linux i must reset CMOS. I figure ive shorted the board at some stage. Cant buy a new mobo for the pc currently :-(

I can manage to save the date and time in bios but apon reboot the BIOS settings return to DEFUALT

QUESTION:
Is it Secure and ok to run my old pc with cmos only saving date and time and using defualt bios settings after reboot from Chassis intrusion" [/SIZE][/B]


Any help is very appreciated,

My apologies for asking this question, but have you tried swapping out the CMOS battery?

Yer ive tried few times and have run the pc at bare minimum.

Stupidly i forgot to mention my CHASIS FAN connector is faulty so i have my chasis fan powered by the PWR FAN connector. This was a result of trying to resolve the problem i have at the moment. Would this have now added to the issue? ill try upload a photo of where the cap shorted.

When i had this looked at at my local PC shop i was told it shouldn't be the cuase.
