RH7.2 boot hangs: related to DVI card?

Hi everyone,

I got Dell'd today with an optiplex GX-270. I stuck the RH7.2 cd into the drive, and when it starts the install procedure, it hanges when probing ide1. Here's the list of messages (which I have to type in manually)

ide: Assuming 33MHz PCI bus speed for PIO modes
PCI_IDE: unknown IDE controller on PCI bus 00 device f9, VID=8086, DID=24db
PCI_IDE: chipset revision 2
PCI_IDE: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
ide0: BM-DMA at 0xffa0-0xffa7, BIOS settings: hdaio, hdbio
ide1: BM-DMA at 0xffa8-0xffaf, BIOS settings: hdcMA, hddMA
PCI_IDE: unknown IDE controller on PCI bus 00 devide fa, VID=8086, DID=24d1
PCI_IDE: chipset revision 2
PCI_IDE: 100% native mode on irq 9
ide2: BM-DMA at 0xfea0-0xfea7, BIOS settings: hdeMA, hdfio
ide3: BM-DMA at 0xfea8-0xfeaf, BIOS settings: hdgMA, hdhio
hdc: SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148C, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
hdd: _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
hde: ST3120026AS, ATA DISK drive
hdf: probing with STATUS(0x00) instead of ALTSTATUS(0x50)
hdf: probing with STATUS(0x00) instead of ALTSTATUS(0x50)
hdg: ST3120026AS, ATA DISK drive
hdh: probing with STATUS(0x00) instead of ALTSTATUS(0x50)
hdh: probing with STATUS(0x00) instead of ALTSTATUS(0x50)
ide1 at 0x170-0x177, 0x376 on irq 15

And it hangs after sending that last string to the term. Is this due to the new DVI card that the monitor is using? I'm using a standard VGA monitor through an adapter to the DVI card.

I tried doing the "text" install and "expert" install, but all hang at this point.

Please help. I'm at my ropes end.

MORE INFO: Hoping to win points with some who are willing to reply before I leave and buy a new graphics card, here's some more info:

intel P4, 2.6 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 512K cache
1.0 GB Non-ECC, 400 MHz DDR RAM (2-512)
NVIDIA GeForce 4MX DVI/VGA card
2 120 GB STAT 7200 RPM drives with data burst cache

Anyone???

kris
