resize and reposition display: dead pixels
I have a line of dead pixels at the top of my display and I would like to place all screen output such that there is nothing underneath the dead pixels. Now most menus of apps are below the dead pixels, so it's more or less guessing where they are or manually placing all windows slightly lower, but that gets annoying. A new display would be easiest, but I am not going to buy one right now.
Is there a way to make linux display only the place below the dead pixels, that is, resize the height to something smaller and then take the maximum point on the screen for everything below the dead pixels, say at a position of 10 pixels from the top of what it uses now?
It's for a computer with suse 10.1 and a Dell E173FP monitor with Intel 915 G graphics card. I have looked at xorg and xrandr, but I don't know where to go or what to do.
Help much appreciated.
