I'm running redhat 8.0 and it works, maybe they changed it for RedHat 9.0?

Remember, it is case sensetive, so XF86Config is different from xf86config.

Try
Code:
/usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config
It is possible that the command is not in your PATH.

OK, we'll try one more thing before we rebulid your XF86COnfig file by hand. as root, type
Code:
updatedb
. You'll hear the harddrive kick in for a while as it catalogues all the files on your HD. Once it has returned you to a prompt, type
Code:
locate xf86config
and see what the output is. If you do have the xf86config build script installed, then locate will help us find the executable. Locate will probably find 5 or 6 different files with xf86config in the name, one of them will be something similar to
Code:
/usr/X11/bin/xf86config
or
Code:
/usr/X11/xf86config
. This is the path that you will want to use to execute the command. So if it shows up in
Code:
/usr/X11/xf86config
then type that on the command line as root and it should run the script.
