RAID Controller Dawicontrol DC100: only SuSE81 runs fine

hello, i'm a linux newbie and i like to install any linux distribution to my pc:
PIII, 750Mhz, 256MB Ram, NEC-DVD-Burner, USB, RAID Controller Dawicontrol DC100 with 2x80GB HDD (no other hdd!)
my problem:
only SuSE81 runs fine. but it is a bit too old i think and i would like to have FC3/FC4 on it, or slackware.
i have a driver for kernel 2.4.19 (i think), but newer dists have 2.6.X. and there is no (compiled) driver for newer kernels.
i found an open source driver, but i have to compile it. i tried, but lot of errors. no idea.
next problem: i have to compile it with the same system (settings). but i cannot install a system. doom loop!
any ideas?
please help!

dawicontrol dc 100 ide raid driver for linux

hello, me again.
it's maybe helpfull for some of you guys where i found the open source driver:

http://www.highpoint-tech.com/BIOS%2...ource-v2.0.tgz

or just have a look to the page www.highpoint-tech.com -> support -> BIOS+Drivers
there are a list of all available drivers for some linux distros.

maybe someone can compile this driver source for suse 9.2 (or any other disto) and send it to me.

thanks in advance.
