RADEON 9500 Slackware Issue

Upon executing make_install.sh i get this

bash-2.05b# cd ..
bash-2.05b# ./make_install.sh
bash: ./make_install.sh: Permission denied
bash-2.05b# sh make_install.sh
- creating symlink
- recreating module dependency list
- trying a sample load of the kernel module
FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.5/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.ko): Operation not permitted
failed.

this is what ./make.sh had:

bash-2.05b# . make.sh
ATI module generator V 2.0

bash: [: =: unary operator expected

patching 'highmem.h'...

doing Makefile based build for kernel 2.6.x and higher
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.5/build SUBDIRS=/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/2.6.x modules

MODPOST

duplicating results into driver repository...
done.
==============================
You must change your working directory to /lib/modules/fglrx
and then call ./make_install.sh in order to install the built module.

I did run ./make.sh twice, that is why the output is as it is.

Why am I unable to continue the install.

linux-2.6.5 is symlinked to linux by the way.

Did you "cd /lib/modules/fglrx" first?

actually when i did the whole process the first time there was no fglrx in /lib/modules so i copied fglrx over manually after i ran the first set of install commands. then i got the whole cannot insert fglrx.

Looking through there appears to be a problem with you not being root, at the top

bash: ./make_install.sh: Permission denied

Means it won't work, unless you have permission nothing else matters.
