Problem with wireless,video and sound cards


i have dell inspiron-1545 laptop.I installed rhel5(downloaded from torrent for free),kernel (2.6.18-8el5xen).i got a driver cd from dell containing rhel drivers for audio,video,network.i tried to install those drivers but could not.it asked
for dkms 2.0 which i installed.but even now also some errors are coming(like dependencies missing etc.).so no internet ,no sound,no video on my laptop.

If you're not going to pay for support and updates, load CentOS instead. It's the community-supported system, that's very close to being RHEL. If you don't, you'll not get updates/patches/etc., since you're not paying for them.

Unless the CD was for Linux, it's not surprising it's not working. And how did you try to install the drivers? And when you say the "errors are coming", when?? What are you doing to make the errors appear?

Spell out your words, please.

RHEL is designed mostly for server-class machines, not for consumer grade laptops. Things like wireless, etc., are not normally found on servers. While you CAN make them work, unless you've got a real need for RHEL, load either CentOS, or another community supported distro, like openSUSE, Mandriva, Ubuntu/Kubuntu, etc. Chances are, things will 'just work', right out of the box.
