I have an ASUS P4P800 as mother board and two maxtor sata HDs.
Now I have installed only WIN XP OEM on the SOFTWARE RAID.
I need to install and work with linux so I would install it on my 2 speedests HDs deleting the software raid provided by the mother board and create a new raid volume using the linux software raid.
But the problem are:
- could I install win xp OEM on another HD (keeping the two HD that I have now)?
- could I emulate a OEM copy using one emulator?
- Are Software raid 0 equal to hardware raid?
And now another question:
- does linux support 5.1 channels integrated audio board?
All 5.1 channels?
Win xp likes to be on the first hard drive, though it can be made to go on other drives, IIRC. It's up to you and your bios to decide which that is.
"Emulate a OEM copy using one emulator?" <-- say what? I don't follow the question, sorry.
There are many documents out there on software vs hardware RAID. Generally speaking, the differences are not terribly significant.
What chipset are you asking about support for on the audio?

You have one big raid 0 with windows xp and want to partition the raid 0 to make a partition where you want to install Linux?
No, I want to delete all patitons on my raid 0 volume. Then I'll deactivate the software raid provided by the MB and I'll install linux on my two HD with a linux software raid.
But this is not the problem.
The problem is: Can I install a OEM version of XP on another HD?
If the OEM version has an installer, and not just a "system image", then you should be fine. If it just makes a system image, you may not be able to do this.
