problem with direct 3d

well after purchasing ati radeon 64 mb vid card, i can't seem to play my games, such as warcraft iii, which needs a 3d accelerator!, and i checked up my dxdiagnostics and it says direct3d not functional. Am i getting jipped or is there something wrong with the software?
