Problem on scanning


Hi folks,

Ubuntu 7.04 desktop
Scanner - Epson Perfection 3490 Photo


Evoked:
Application --> Graphics --> XSane Image Scanner
Code:
Error
Failed to open device 'snapscan:libusb:001:002':invalid argument

Performed following steps;

$ sudo apt-get install sane-utils

# lsusb

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 04b8:0122 Seiko Epson Corp. 
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

Shall I change owner as "root root'???

# find / -name libsane.db
# find / -name libsane.rules
Both without printout

# sane-find-scanner

# scanimage -L

Pls advise how to fix the problem. TIA

why don't go to epson's website to download the driver?
http://www.avasys.jp/english/linux_e/dl_scan.html
With alien you can convert the rpm's to deb and install with dpkg.
