The permissions of uploaded files can be set in the configuration file of the ftp daemon you are using. That is how it should work, anyways. My server lets me in the config file.

For Samba, try SWAT (assuming you are still having trouble, which you probably aren't).

Hum... is this the line you are talking about ?

# Default umask for local users is 077. You may wish to change this to 022,
# if your users expect that (022 is used by most other ftpd's)
local_umask=022


I have not set up the ftp daemon yet, i am just mounting and copying directly from the other machines.

To answer our question Aborted Fetus ( stange calling u that , do u have a name ? ), directories copied get the same permisions, files lose the write by owner permision, i have to see if it happens the same thing with the ftp.
