problem ejecting cd/dvd without sudo privilege


Dear All,

I have suse 11.1 on my system, the problem i face is when i put a cd in the dvd rom drive, it does not auto mount. i have to use sudo to mount the cd, also to eject i have to use sudo.

this was not the case when i had suse 9.3.

any kind of help / assistance wold be appreciated.

the entries in /etc/fstab is /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,ro 0 0


l /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root 3 2009-11-25 20:13 /dev/cdrom -> sr0

Try adding yourself to the cdrom group.
Something like:
Code:
useradd -G {group-name} username
Might work !

You have "owner" set in your fstab line. That means only the owner of the device is able to mount and unmount ist, which in this case should be root. Either change that to "group" and add yourself to the cdrom group, like Davno suggested, or change it to users, which should give you full privileges.

Ed: Also, why does that symlink belong to root:3? O.o What does ls -l /dev/sr0 say?)
