Anyone can help me dual booting Fedora Core 3 and Windows 2000 Professional.
I installed Fedora Core 3 and Windows 2000 Professional dual booting almost 3 times. I almost tried everything but it still messed up.I install Fedora Core 3 and Windows 2000 pro in one HD I set my HD in Auto mode I installed WIndows in 2nd Partition and linux in the First /dev/hda1 I also set the Boot Loader in /dev/hda1 After the Installation I edit the GRUB.conf thrn I make a copy of Boot Loader and put into c:
then add a parameter to boot.ini
I restarted and Fix the MBR then it ended up with an error when I select Windows the error sys:
Error 18:Unrecognize Input:Extended partition does not at a cylinder boundary.
ntoskrnl.exe error
I dont know what is the problem in dual booting Fedora 3 and Win2000? Is it the Drive Geometry or a problem in GRUB config?
when I tried both command it ended with an error:
sfdisk:Unrecognized input: Extended Partition does not start at a cylinder boundary
My Hard Disk is 40GB ExcelStore HD
I set my HD to LBA
Capacity 41170 MB
Cylinder 5005
Head 255
Precomp 0
Landing Zone 19709
Sector 63
I installed windows 2000 already on the second partition then i installed linux on the first partition /dev/hda1
I tried:
linux hda=5005,255,63
Then it ended up with an error in my installation
---install error---
***glibc detected*** corrupted double-linked list: 0x0cb23d28***
install excited abnormally
Sending termination signals...done
But I still I tried to continue the installation, I tried installing several times until the the installation ended successfully, I reboot the Computer, during the bootup the GRUB Boot Loader fails to load and ended up with the GRUB Command Prompt
I installed again fedora 3 and set my HD in auto mde
linux hda=C,H,S
Then it ended up with an error in my installation
---install error---
***glibc detected*** corrupted double-linked list: 0x0cb23d28***
install excited abnormally
Sending termination signals...done
it seems to me that you should try installing GRUB on MBR works fine here, I don't think it's a hardware issue, also try not to use LBA or maybe you need LBA32? what do you mean by I fixed the MBR? try simply to check if this second partition is properly configured in gub.conf?

let's try step by step I mean I don't seem to follow you - anyway LBA32 if not missing something is in bios but the point is that there is no problem with dualboot try installing GRUB from live cd lets say of some linux boot a floppy .. type - grub-install ..hda
