partition compact flash drive

Hi, I am attempting to cross install ubuntu gutsy on my soekris net4521. I have a new 4G cf drive. I am having some problems(grub errors) when I attempt to boot the soekris and I think might be partition related.

1) One thing I notice is that cfdisk reports a different disk geometry than the soekris bios does. Should I be forcing cfdisk to use the same parameters that soekris reports?

2) Do I have to use fat32?

3) I have been making 2 partition one for / and for /swap. Do I have to do anything "special" in this regard?

I assume you are using this through an IDE adapter?

If so, then you don't have to do anything different than you would on a normal hard drive. The geometry issue might be the only thing to look out for, but different filesystems and partitions are no problem.

I am using a usb adapter on my workstation, the soekris has a cf port built in, although there may be an ide interface underneath.
