Parralel Printer

Linux doesn't detect my HP Laserjet 1100. I'm not sure why. It's on and the Parralel Port is enabled. It's set to bi-directional. And linux won't pick it up ne1 kno why? ALso Linux won't print to my networked printer. It finds it but says can't connect to SAMBA. I'm not sure why? THe other printer is networked via Windows.
