Unhappy Parallel Printer Issues

Hi,

Just installed a PCI parallel card into my Linux box

Checked lspci to see if it recognizes it;

[root@WarbBox2 ~]# lspci

08:00.0 Parallel controller: NetMos Technology PCI 9865 Multi-I/O Controller
08:01.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82557/8/9/0/1 Ethernet Pro 100 (rev 08)

[root@WarbBox2 ~]#

Looks ok

Then i checked the lsmod to see if the modules were loaded;

[root@WarbBox2 ~]# lsmod

parport_pc 62313 0
lp 47121 0
parport 73165 2 parport_pc,lp

bit confused though - shouldn't there only be one lp module.

Anyway, tried to print from the command line by using;

# cat paul.txt>/dev/lp

nothing

Can anyone see anything obviously wrong here? Help appreciated

See 'man lsmod'
"The format is name, size, use count, list of referring modules. The
information displayed is identical to that available from /proc/modules."

in column two.

You will have to set up your printer with # 'system-config-printer'
or with http://localhost:631/ , else no printing !

The only important information is missing : Name and type no. of printer.

I ended up removing the parallel port card and plugging the printer into the USB port. Worked fine so didn't take the issue any further.
