Palit Daytona Geforce 4 MX 440 PCI - Slow Performance

I just installed winex 3.1 and tried to play Gta3 on my slackware 9.1 box and noticed that the game shows up slow, like 13 or 15fps, on windows the game runs just fine at a nice 40-50fps rate, i was wondering i get this error with winex:

NV_vertex_array_range extension present, but no AGP memory could be allocated
- will use system memory instead, which may reduce performance
- try reloading the kernel modules or rebooting to fix this

also, i tried adding the line: Option "NvAGP" "0" which disables AGP but no luck, i kept getting the same warning.
i get around 600~700FPS on glxgears, and i think this card should get more fps. i've seen in other threads people getting slow performance on the g2 mx 400 perhaps there is some connection?

My system: pentium III 1gh. 192mb in ram pc133, g4 mx 440 PCI

I tried also with max payne and the performance was horrible :P

Any ideas?
