On occasion my screen goes black then comes back on after like 2 seconds it kind of annoying.....it does this when I am on windows as well as linux....does anybody know what could be causing this.....and possible solutions if any

sounds like a power issue. have you tried plugging it in a different outlet? another thing to check, i actually lost a monitor some years ago, because it was plugged into the same circut as the hvac. try and see if the blackouts correspond w/the thermostat.

Or it could just be a spotty video cable connection. Is the cable securely seated in the video card's plug, and have you tightened the screws to keep it secure? -- J.W.

uninteruptable power supply. if you have one you would more than likely know what that was, so you can probably rule that out. have you tried the monitor w/another machine? do you get the same results?

well that leaves the monitor itself as suggested by michaelk in post # 3. most t.v. repair shops wll take a look at a computer monitor for a standard bench fee. (in my locale it's around 25$ us) that should give you an idea of whether it'll be cheaper to keep her, so to speak. if your not experienced w/electronics, i'd suggest that route. monitors, and crt's are very dangerous to "open the case on". you may find that it'll be less expensive and painless, to simply replace it.
