Old AGP 2x card - can work in AGP 2x/4x slot?

I've got a old AGP graphics card which is AGP-2x (AGP 1.0 spec?). It can also work in AGP 1x mode (so it should be the older spec...)

I might be upgrading an old computer by using a motherboard (it has the old KT133A chipset) has AGP 2x/4x support.

I've heard a lot of the problems with 2x/4x and 8x slots, but I'm not sure with my case.

I do not wish to (hopefully) make any extra display purchases, nor do I want to spoil the motherboard/graphic card. Please provide tips, thanks.

The voltage is what matters. I believe 4x will work in 8x, but 2x won't. 2x will work in 4x.
