hello all,

I am new to the linux.

NTFS Read and Write Support into the kernel itself.
But from my new kernel i will only able to read the NTFS

So sugest me where i go wrong and what to do overcome .

do a google for captive-ntfs. More people have success with using it than the kernel support.

you cant _really_ write with the kernel NTFS driver... only thing you can do is to replace an existing file, but the size has to stay the same. Not really useful.

As musicman_ace said, use captive-ntfs

Do *NOT* attempt to write to NTFS. Simple as that - it willl cause grief.
Too many limitations, and keeps changing. Even captive has the following warning on the homepage;
Quote:
Unfortunately, this project is no longer being maintained by its author. Mounting of NTFS devices usually works, but is no longer supported by the author of Captive.

To be fair, that is in reference to NTFS v5.1, cause it works quite well with NTFS on windows 2000. Microshaft just screws up their code with each new release making the software than currently works go bad. I'm sure the user was using XP, so heed the warnings and don't use it unless you must. I'll stop telling others about it since it is no longer being developed.

Wasn't having a go at you or your advice.
Merely alerting the original poster that this isn't a safe practice. Might work - might even work for a good while, but the exposure is not insignificant.
Better to make a vfat partition, and safely share data between O/S's safely.
