No sound, problem with sound card install?

Linux isnt finding our sound card, and I cant find a "How to" to help with this.

Were using Debian woody, and have a Ensoniq AudioPCI 9722 Assyno: 01 REV. E

Can anyone help with ideas? Thanks in advance.

What does the output of lspci -v have to say about multimedia audio devices?

Which kernel version are you using? 2.4.x series or 2.6.x series?
I am using 2.6.2 and didnt see that number (9722) listed under any of the PCI cards for the ALSA sound drivers.

Is this a PCI card? integrated on your motherboard? isa card?

lspci

will show you all pci-based devices in your system (even integrated ones), and
you want to look for something like this:
00:02.7 Multimedia audio controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] Sound Controller (rev a0)

Is that where you got the model number and code revision from?
