Hello Friends,

I have dellN5040 and I installed Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid version along with windows 7. I don't have any problems with Wwindows 7 and other versions of ubuntu, but I couldn't able to get sound through my laptop speakers in ubuntu 10.04. I am able to get sound through headset. I did some trouble shooting with help of information on google it still didn't worked. I am completely stumped on this any help is much appreciated.

the troubleshooting i did:

options snd-hda-intel model=generic
options snd-hda-intel model=ref


I add the above statements to "sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf" one at a time to this file and checked for sound, It wasn't success.

Some information of my speakers:

$ aplay -l

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: HDA Generic [HDA Generic]

Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
