Mandrake, RedHat, Suse none of them actually support hardware. The Linux kernel supports hardware, and none of these companies produce the kernel.
The network card is probably just a french marketed version of a well known chipset, probably made in taiwan like everything else in our computers... except the chips which were made in Dublin, Hamburg or California.
A hunch makes me want to guess its another Realtek 8139 clone, but it could be a tulip card or a number of other things. The easiest way to find out is install and try.
