need help with creative go plus

Can someone, anyone please help me?

I have a creative go plus webcam and am trying fruitlessly to get it working!
I've downloaded what I think are the correct drivers, (found at go.lamarinapunto.com) which compiled & loaded successfully.
I'm running a freshly compiled 2.4.21 kernel. The install README for the driver says to load videodev, i2c-core, ovcamchip, (which I downloaded & installed no worries) the usb modules & finally w9968cf (the webcam module). All this seemed to load OK. Another site (that I can't bloody find again) said to then start xawtv and it should work. But obviously mine did not!

[root@ash dev]# cat /proc/video/w9968cf/main
driver_name : W996[87]CF USB-V4L1 driver for Linux
driver_version : v1.00
driver_author : (C) 2002 2003 Luca Risolia
author_email : <luca_ing@libero.it>
max_allowed_cams : 32
registered_cameras: 1
/dev/video0 : Creative Labs Video Blaster WebCam Go Plus

shows that it's under /dev/video0 but xawtv says:

[ash@ash ash]$ xawtv
This is xawtv-3.74, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.21)
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such device
v4l: open /dev/video0: No such device
no video grabber device available

Also, usbview shows it as unknown device until I load the driver which it then recognizes correctly as w9968cf.

What's going on?!?

Can someone PLEASE HELP me?

Moving to Hardware forum where this thread might get more noticed and possibly someone with a solution will post. Regards.
