Huh, had not been aware they finally added those types of features. Well, then eMMC is even less horrible than I had realized.

I wouldn't buy it. But that is just me as not worth my time to fiddle with to try to make usable. For me, a laptop should be better than the last one, but doesn't have to be top of the line. Big thing is that the laptop must be upgradable though. No soldered memory or ssd(s). It must have at least a 1920x1080 screen too. Your acquisition wouldn't meet that criteria. That said, I did buy a laptop a couple days ago and it is on its way (MSI Modern 15 A5M-288). Pulled the trigger as Newegg had a decent sale on it as it checked off the boxes I was looking for. It has two slots for up to 64GB DDR4 of memory, and 2 PCIe slots for any size SSD sticks and an HD screen. Criteria met. Plus I read where someone loaded Linux and it ran with no problems (great!). Hate paying the Windoze tax for a Linux laptop, but so it goes. Only thing I missed was it didn't have a hard-wire ethernet port (assumed all came with one). So I also ordered a USB-C to Ethernet cable, two 16GB sticks of DDR memory, and a 1TB M.2 SSD -- just because I might as well while I am ordering ... So much for savings .

For play, I have my Raspberry PIs to work with. There is much more flexibility than what you are buying. In your case maybe a RPI 400 would be the ticket... if you could find one at non scalper price.

Like anything though. If you want it, go for it . My opinion really means nothing .
