Mouse not working: MS 5 button Intellimouse

I'm useing Red Hat Linux 8, and I can't seem to get my mouse to work. It's in a USB to PS/2 adapter. It works fine on my Windows partition. I've tried other mice, and even some old serial ones. None of them work. Do you have a solution to fix this problem that doesn't require a mouse ?

In order to resolve this problem, you will need to edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file.

An appropriate section for a ps/2 intellimouse style device would look something like:

Code:
Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Mouse0"
        Driver "mouse"
        Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
        Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
        Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
        Option "SampleRate" "100"
EndSection

How would I gain access in console mode to this file?
