Motherboard/video upgrade hangs OS

Hi all,
Tried to upgrade my hardware from a ASUS A8V m/b and NV FX5600XT video and replace with NV 6200TC PCI-E video + Gigabyte K8 Triton m/b, CPU is AMD64. I run a dual boot with Ubuntu dapper and SUSE 10.1, both OS seem to boot with no errors, but both freeze when boot finished and GUI should start?
Also upgraded PSU.
Have reverted to previous until I can find reason.
Any ideas?

What happens if you use command line login and start X manually? Check possible error messages there.
