Monitor


Hi i am sure this has been address and i have tried what i could find, i just installed RH9 and i chose the wrong monitor, well i was wondering if someone could tell me step by step how to go about changing it to the right one thanks in advance, chris

As far as I know it doesn't really matter, however it just might. If you are getting the gui to show, then just click redhat, system settings, then display. It will ask for your root password. Type it in and then go to advanced, then configure under monitor type. Just choose probe monitor and you should be set. If you aren't getting the gui, then I can't help you, hopefully someone else can.

You can configure it by editing XF86Config-4 in /etc/X11 or by running a utility, like xf86config to run you thru the setup again.

Bensoft Kill MS,

I'd like to point out it does matter in some cases. If he selected the wrong monitor, it could have setup the wrong refresh rates for the monitor, which in some cases can destroy your monitor. Please be more accurate in your responses. This seems to be an ongoing problem in several of your posts.
