Module Location Problem

Quote:
root@localhost:~# modprobe ide-scsi
modprobe: Can't locate module ide-scsi
root@localhost:~#
I don't know where the module is. Does anyone know where it will be?

Can I compile separately from a source code or something similar?

I don't know about Slackware, but this module exists in the base install of Fedora. Try running

locate ide-scsi

& post results.

If this file truly is not on your system then you will have to install your kernel source, reconfigure it to include this module & then build & install the modules. But if you are going to rebuild your kernel, I would recommend putting in a little extra work & configure it specifically for your needs.
Let me know your results.

When you get that error it means one of two things. The name is incorrect or the module does not exist. If you have the module on your system from another kernel you may find it but this won't solve the problem. You would need to build the module for your kernel.
