mdk9.1 install hangs interupt lost


Hi, all Linuxfreaks.
system is a Asrock mob k7s8x with an AMD XP 2800
mandrake 9.1 install hangs when detecting

ide0 and ide1

thereafter it complains about ...lost interrupt

and freezes

Note: There is a RH9 on the same harddisk running smoothly!!!


Have been roving in the forums to find there are quite a lot of people
with the same problem.

BIOS settings are important to getting correct and error-free hardware detection in Linux, which you do not seem to be getting. Some very good installation tips here for Mandrake 9.1, including the ones about BIOS settings:

We foud the solution:
With the first install CD for MDK9 type F1
and on the commandline type :

linux noapic acpi=off

then the insall process runs smoothly!!!!!!!!!!!
