Unhappy Mandrake and Riad

Hi I have an abit kr7a with the intigrated highpoint 372 raid controller I have two hard drives running through the raid but the raid is only acting as a normal ide controller (as specified in the bios)

When I go to install linux on my primary master not throught the raid but with it enabled

While its loading from the cd it tells me that the kernal has panicked ?

And the install stops

I fI disable the raid in the bios then It all installs ok But there is a lot of data on the other two drives I want to be able to acess through linux

Oh I am running mandrake 8.2

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers Judas

First update your BIOS, I got the manufacturer's link but it seems to be down, but there are hits on google http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...7a+bios+update
And then you can recompile your kernel to include RAID support, or you can re-install OS (upgrade).
