I use Freeserve and I couldn't get the green speedtouch modem to work in Mandrake 9.2, which surprised me as it always worked like a charm in Mandrake 9.1, although having said that, it's been a bugger to get it working with a 2.6 kernel on Scratch. I would suggest you try the speedtouchconf package http://speedtouchconf.sourceforge.net/ but I won't pretend it's going to be easy. It's worth making the effort though as broadband access is very important. It's been hard work for me but I've got both an original green and one of the new Speedtouch 330's working on two different computers. It is possible so stick at it. Good luck.
