I have just reinstalled mdk 10.1 on my laptop (HP Pavilion zd7000), and the only real problem I am having as of yet is getting the wireless to work. I have installed ndiswrapper and added the driver. After i installed the driver i rebooted and did a modprobe ndiswrapper. The wireless light comes on for a second or 2, then it goes out. I figured it was something wrong with the configuration so i tried iwconfig wlan0 to set the essid and key, but no matter what I do, I can't make them stay at what I set them to. If i go to a console and run dhclient wlan0, it outputs a bunch of crap telling me that it can't connect. I am on my desktop now, so it is hard for me to post exactly what mdk tells me, if it would help I could hand copy it.
Distribution: Lots of distros in the past, now Linux Mint

Rep:
Yeah, they are a pain in the neck (using one now -- Mepis automatically sets them up, which is nice). It's hard to tell from your post what's exactly wrong, but my advice is to carefully read the nidswrapper docs again, because it's likely you either missed a step, or inserted a typo in your setup.
.
My sticking points have usually been typos, or forgetting to set up the dhcp server along with the card. (dhcpd, or pump are usually the commands I miss.)

edit:
Oh, and sometimes it can be things as simple as not bringing you network devices online, ("ifup" or "ifconfig wlan0 up"), especially in a startup sequence such as rc.d.
I am not sure if it will help, I hope it does. I managed to copy the output into a file. The contents are below. I tried what you suggested with minimal results (the light is on now... at least)

[root@localhost boco]# ndiswrapper -l

Yeah i also had the same problem, change your wireless settings to STATIC, get the DNS Servers from your ISP, plug in the numbers and hopefully it should, it worked for me.
Thank you for the quick reply. I am not sure what you mean by change it to Static. As far as the DNS goes, I am behind a router. I am not sure if it makes a difference, but in my previous install (i have no idea how i got it to work) i didnt need to do anything.. just ndiswrapper -i the driver, iwconfig all the vars, and iwconfig wlan0 up. Also, does it make a difference if my router has WEP enabled?
