Mal root living on my video card?

GTX 260 on windows vista. Been acting real strange recently. I'm seeing weird things happen on my screen. I decided to put the magnets to my HDDs, reinstall windows. Same problem. Wonder about the GPU. Remove windows, install unbuntu 12. Ubuntu One won't sync. Just keeps checking over and over. Get an error

AttributeError
"NoneType" object has no attribute 'stop'"

Take out GTX 260. Put in brand new Radeon 7770. When i restart during the boot process I see some wierd message about disc location or something. It was just a flash, not sure exactly what it said. Then when I try to run the driver disc that came with the 7770 I get this error.

Archive: /media/DiamondHDxxxx/autorun.exe
Zip file size: 6426112 bytes, number of entries: 29824

[/media/DiamondHDxxxx/autorun.exe]:
Zipfile is disk 34294 of a multi-disk archive, and this is not the disk on
which the central zipfile directory begins (disk 3569).

Also, I had briefly installed dropbox. Then I removed it with

sudo apt-get remove nautilus-dropbox
rm -rf ~/.dropbox
rm -rf ~/.dropbox-dist

When I restart the computer, Dropbox keeps wanting to re-install itself. Then it gives me a message about insecure binaries because you must install the proprietary daemon because python-gpgme is not installed.

Why is dropbox still on my machine?

here is a link to the original problems which made me suspicious.

nautilus-dropbox is just the plugin for the nautilus file manager, so that dropbox functionality is integrated in your file manager. You didn't remove the dropbox package, just a plugin. What are these weird things? Is it possible that this is just a bad adapter?
