lucent modem - slackware - no dialing

i have slackware 10.2 (2.4.31 kernel), Lucent Agere Systems 56k WinModem, driver ltmodem-8.26a.tar.gz and everything works fine...

problem have my friend which also have slackware 10.2 (2.4.31 kernel), she also have ltmodem-8.26a.tar.gz driver, but difference is that she has Lucent Agere Systems V.92 56k WinModem...

my lspci shows:
00:09.0 Communication controller: Agere Systems 56k WinModem (rev 01)

her lspci shows:
00:08.0 Communication controller: Agere Systems V.92 56k WinModem (rev 03)

the problem is when she does "query modem" in kppp, everything works fine, but when she tries to connect, system become slower (xmms is muting sound, arrow of mouse slows down...) and there is NO DIALING at all...
"wait for dial tone" is unchecked and everything is set to be as same as it is on my computer...
ah yes, i forgot, system doesn't become slower when she changes ATDT into ATDP...but i can't see why is that a problem, because on my comp ATDT works just fine...

we saw on the web that command "ifconfig eth0 down" could help, but it didn't...

output of "tail /var/log/messages" shows:
Nov 9 22:23:23 titan kernel: Loading Lucent Modem Controller driver version 8.26
Nov 9 22:23:23 titan kernel: Detected Parameters Irq=10 BaseAddress=0xd800 ComAddress=0xd400
Nov 9 22:23:23 titan kernel: Lucent Modem Interface driver version 8.26 (2002-11-04) with SHARE_IRQ enabled
Nov 9 22:23:23 titan kernel: ttyLT00 at 0xd800 (irq = 10) is a Lucent Modem
Nov 9 22:23:23 titan insmod: Warning: loading /lib/modules/2.4.31/ltmodem/lt_modem.o will taint the kernel: non-GPL license - UNKNOWN
Nov 9 22:23:23 titan insmod: Module lt_modem loaded, with warnings
Nov 9 22:23:23 titan insmod: Module lt_serial loaded, with warnings

i don't know is any more i can tell you, but if i forgot something, be free to ask me...

also, she has a windows on her computer, and modem works fine...

please help me to solve this problem...thank you in advance...
