Lost keyboard module

No keyboard at boot so I checked /var/log/Xorg.0.log and found this:
(II)LoadModule: kbd
(WW)Warning, couldn't open module kbd
(II)UnloadModule "kbd"
(EE)Failed to load module "kbd" (module does not exist, 0)

?? how did I lose the keyboard module and how do I get it back?

You can boot in runlevel 3 and use your distro's package manager to (re)install the xf86-input-keyboard package.
