Well, they dropped the price to less than what it costs would be my guess. $99 is kind of a hard choice. Almost worth trying to hack it now.
Does anyone feel that a linux hack would be possible in a few months?
I know there is a small root hack right now but I'd be more inclined to consider unsoldering the slc chip and re-flashing it or maybe the bios being un-soldered before that.
Or are they selling it cheap for some other reason?
Basically it is an intel CE4100 next generation atom based computer/netbox. It has an android ish google tv burned in to a chip with maybe 4 gig of ramdrive. It would be a fantastic bargain I'd think if someone could easily put an OS that they want on it. In some settings it is supposed to support dual decoding of hdtv to to monitors so it isn't exactly a crummy device.
Basically I was wondering if anyone knew more than I did. Someone here may have been working on it or has been trying to get it to boot to a linux distro.
Has anyone ever removed a slc flash chip or worked on embedded controllers that would have more of an idea if one could solder in a a sata connector.
Or does anyone have experience removing a bios and re-flashing it.
I did do that stuff on way older equipment a long time ago. I doubt anything I know is current.
Sorry for the sarcasm. I didn't realize that 'Revue' was the name of the product; I took the more literal meaning, which lead to my response.
Now that I've seen the Logitech web site, I'd say it does look slick. Not sure what you could turn it into that a conventional netbook isn't already, other than the TV output.
--- rod.
I was kind of hurt by your response but I got over it soon enough.
I don't need it since I am using a small similar setup on my TV already. What I have though needs more horsepower but still use the least power it can.
