well I have given up....mdv 2008.1 has just arrived for us freeloaders = GPL
I would have thought just using the kernel.txt from the doc section off the cd but renaming it .config and loading it...should work....but my trouble was with lib you know what ....and I did try make config....the real hard way but got errors.
2) funny thing is...my chroot is playing up...I do not run ssh or a server so I am not concerned but...chroot /rip2/boot/1/.....looks like it works because I made a /slack to put all my tgz files that I had success with....but by accident I ran
hostname....and bugger me...my mdv hostname popped up.
that might explain some leaks and links in trying after make mrproper....I was getting errors...naturally I also tried a package called rpm2tgz and imported a rpm file of libncurses-devel but it have glibc errors that I did not have time to fix.
3) I am really hoping slax is the answer in the long run as well because when you read the dox is really modular in design.
My hope was slax was the answer to, but it doesn't look to be. I tried slax this morning and was able to get eth0, but I couldn't get a DHCP lease! *Grumble* *Grumble*
