Linux lba48 support

I have installed a new Sunix SATA2100 controller card (INIC-1622 controller chip) into my ASUS P4PE motherboard to install Fedora Core 8. I have setup the raid card with 2 sata drives of 320GB in a raid 1 config. I intend to install Fedora on the raid drive and boot off it.

When I try installing the form the DVD I can see that the installer recognizes the controller chip and loads some software but the drive is not available in disk druid.

I then tried to start the PC with a live version of Fedora Core 8 and the same result, no disk showing. I ran dmesg and found this section of from the listing -
Code:

I also have the same issue with the latest Knoppix live CD.

Is LBA48 not supported in any Linux distro yet?

Is it just the driver for this controller that does not have the support for LBA48?

I have been Googling for a while and have not found any info that solves this issue.

Is there any other distros that may support it natively so I can install Linux on the controller card disks in a raid 1 array?

Sunix SATA 2100 raid controller ?
You should have got an instruction manual along with the adapter.
To my knowledge you cannot install on a hd set up to raid.
Is ment for raid only.

The Sunix SATA2100 rom bios raid controller is a hardware based SATA RAID and SATA controller. But I believe that the current kernel driver does not support LBA48 for this chip (INIC-1622) after some more research.

Are you trying to tell me that you cannot install Linux entirely on a raid 1 array?

Does anyone know of any cheap pci sata raid cards with rom bios that are linux compatible supporting lba48?

This will be my 3rd purchase of a raid controller to achieve my result .
