linux asks me for how many millimeters is long and high is my screen. And then ?

Hi all,

SUsE SAX2 keeps on asking me how many millimeters is my screen long and high. I meseured my screen and it's 285 x 215. I inserted this numbers, then I restarted the system and I found bad surprises : the login screen is ugly and a xshell appears with the boot informations. In addition I can't reboot and stop the system but with the command shell.
With Simcity 3000 the game appears only in a part of the screen. It seems like Xorg does not understand no other resolution than the default one.

Can I restore something ?

Thanks

For some reason SuSE has a problem "detecting geometry" for certain monitors. I have never found a way to fix this. I simply ignored the message at each boot and found that it went away over time (which makes little sense, but oh well).

As for fixing your problem, next time you get to your console, su to root and then run
Code:
sax2
You should be able to just undo your geometry changes.
