Hi fellas,

I'm on a AthlonXP 2500, nForce2Ultra mobo with 1gig of RAM, with a FX5700, with Slackware 10.2 and use KDE.

My problem is, I want to install the gfx card drivers. I have got the linux drivers package, installed it. It showed some recompiling error or something like that....i'm basically stuck at 1024x768 at 60Hz, and anything less than 1280x1024 doesnt look good my eves get strained at 60Hz, so help me pleeease!


Second, I have a Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet onboard..i checked out the driver cd, but the instructions were too complex :S

I'm a complete n00b in linux, just managed to install slack...and i cant do anything without detail instructions

For the graphics card, you will need to install the kernel sources too. I think you can grab them from Slackware's ftp site. I wrote this little tutorial that is worthy checking out, despite the bad spelling and crammer:

You can, however, try to change your screen resolution even without installing the drivers. Open up and edit your /etc/X11/xorg.conf. The file is nearly self explanatory. Find the lines for resolution and refresh rate and change them. Backup the file first

Try searching the forum if you have problems with nvidia. There're plenty of similar threads with good solutions.
