Today my keyboard stopped working for no apparent reason. I tried 3 other keyboards 2 ps2 and one usb, they all die right after the password prompt, nothing works including caps lock, num lock, or scroll lock.
Keyboards all work in winxp, and in the BIOS, so I am pretty sure it is not the keyboard itself. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
Assuming using X Window System or GUI to login and if using Xorg server version 1.5 or higher. Make sure that dbus, and hal are loaded before X Window System is loaded or else you will not have any control or have limited control with your keyboard and mouse. If you want to switch to terminal, make sure consolekit is loaded. Unfortunately consolekit requires framebuffer modes for terminals (VT1...VT6).
Electro, Thanks for your reply. The system is the same as it was when the problem started. I have not changed any settings, everything should work as it did. Are there any .conf files I can see/edit to recognize keyboard?
I have not tried the konsole, but tried all the apps; There is no output. I am still trying to fix the problem. All help is appreciated.
If I log on under root, then keyboard works, otherwise it is NOT seen at all.
What could have changed to make this a root privilege?
Console in user mode won't work; dead kybd. I still can't figure out why. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
