Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question kernel upgrade 2.6 - display is forced 640x480 (intel845)

I just upgraded my Fedora Core1 kernel to 2.6.4. I had to muddle around with some settings afterwards, but so far looks like everything's good except for one thing........

I'm running a P4 with the intel 845 chipset but I can't get my display to work correctly. When my system boots to the 2.6 kernel, everything is forced to 640x480, even though my XConfig file is showing 1280x1024 (which is my resolution in the 2.4 kernel).

Anyone know how I can get the 2.6.4 kernel to boot to use higher resolutions? I can't seem to find that anywhere. Even now, I'm trying to make this post with my screen completely offset (which is quite difficult I might add.........) :-)

The good news, is that I can still boot to my 2.4 kernel with no problems........ But the performance of my machine is HUGELY improved with 2.6. I'd really like to use it.

Thanks in advance!

Aaron
