Is it ok to use usb 2 and usb 3 devices simultaneously on a usb 3 hub?

Is it ok to use usb 2 and usb 3 devices simultaneously on a usb 3 hub? Thought it might slow down the usb 3 devices a little but how much?

I get the feeling I had heard something like that before. Maybe usb 1.1 and usb2.

I'd think this is correct as it has stayed there for 4 years. http://superuser.com/questions/47724...-to-2-0-speeds

I guess it is possible that some bad usb 3 hub has some issues. Maybe some odd driver or faulty hardware in system could be an issue.

You can mix them. It is my understanding that what happens is that the USB 2 devices will slow down the transfer - and since that is taking longer it will cause delays for the USB 3 devices to get access to the controller; but the USB 3 devices will transfer data as fast as they and the USB 3 controller can go.

The delay should only occur when the USB 2 devices are doing things.

I get the feeling that this is correct. http://superuser.com/questions/27867.../287195#287195

"According to the USB3 specification from here, USB2 functionality on USB3 hosts/hubs does not change. Therefore, (putting power issues aside) USB2 devices still operate with a broadcast method, meaning it will share the same old USB speed bandwidth with all other USB2 devices on the same host/hub. USB2 devices will not have USB3 capacity available to it, as the SuperSpeed USB3 capacity is on different wires that are not connected to USB2 devices."
