I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop and wiped Windows off immediately
and put Fedora Core 3. After over a week of research I got my integrated Intel wireless adapter to work with an open source driver ipw2200, but now I'm off to get everything else to work. Firstly, any 3D graphics (such as TuxRacer) are extremely choppy, so I'll need to find my graphic's card drivers. Also, from other threads, I have been told the kernel isn't supporting my chipset for my DVD drive so I was wondering if there was a driver for that? It won't allow me to change the DMA.
I have found the Windows drivers for everything I need on Dell's website. Is there a way to get these to work for me in Linux? While working on the wifi nic, I found the NDISWRAPPER command which (in a solution that didn't work for me) used a Windows driver in Linux. Could I use that for the drivers I downloaded off of Dell? (note: these are Intel drivers).
Thanks!
